In the darkest chapter of my life, when everything felt broken and hopeless, I encountered a love I never expected.
There was a time in my life when everything felt like it was falling apart. I was surrounded by noise, confusion, and pain—trying to smile in public while silently crying out for help behind closed doors. I felt like I was drowning in expectations, disappointments, and decisions I couldn’t undo.
Amid personal chaos, brokenness, and confusion, I wasn’t looking for God—but He found me. This is the raw story of how grace entered my life when I felt most unworthy.
Hitting Rock Bottom
I remember walking through the streets of Atlanta, headphones in, trying to block out the world. I’d pass churches, hear gospel music from cars at red lights, and see people smiling like they had it all together. I wondered, “How do they do it? Where do they find peace?”
A Silent Cry for Help
One Sunday, I finally said yes to an invitation to visit New Vision Christian Church. I didn’t expect much—just another service, another sermon. But something shifted. The worship hit different. The message felt like it was written just for me. And when the altar call came, I didn’t even realize I was walking forward until I was already there, tears streaming down my face.

That day, I didn’t just hear about Jesus—I met Him. Right in the middle of my mess. He didn’t wait for me to clean up first. He didn’t ask me to be perfect. He just loved me. Fully. Unconditionally.
Since then, I’ve been growing. I’m not perfect, but I’m healing. I’ve found community in Illumin8 Student Ministry. I’ve found mentors who see me, pray for me, and walk with me. I’ve found purpose. And most importantly, I’ve found Jesus—not in a perfect moment, but in the broken ones.
If you’re reading this and you feel like you’re too far gone, too messed up, or too lost—just know, Jesus meets us right where we are. Even in Atlanta traffic, even in the silence of your room, even in the middle of your mess.
